Handbags at Dawn!

Louis Vuitton - Mahina XL
Something has been happening recently which makes me confused. Let me expand...

I just got back from doing some business out the country and while i was in Dubai i picked up a nice new handbag. The bag seems to have caused some controversy for want of a better word.
A few girls on Facebook expressed their disgust that i would buy a $3,500 handbag when there is so much poverty in the world. A couple of other girls told me i was nuts for spending this much on a bag and last night at the pub i got a little bit of ribbing by the girls for spending so much when i could get a fake on for 10quid off the market.

I am lucky to earn enough to be quite comfortable, I'm not a millionaire and i dont have money to just go and buy a new car every year. But i do have a small amount of disposable income to treat myself to nice things.
$3.5k didn't seem a big deal at the time of purchasing cos we were all buying stuff from the shop and we probably spent over $10k in total on various bits. We got a special discount anyway so i only ended up paying $2,400 (around £1,500GBP) so i know its a good investment and i can sell it on anytime and break even.
I guess the question is 'Should i feel guilty for being able to afford such nice things'?

Before i went away on business I went round to see my sister (the day after i told my Mum). I felt quite guilty about not telling her sooner. She told me she was a bit upset that i didn't trust her and tell her sooner. I guess that i was wrong when i assumed that she knew about me.
We had a nice chat and i hope that she continues to treat me the same way as before. She had a good look through some of my pictures and i guess she liked some of my clothes cos she gave a few nice comments which made me happy. I am looking forwards to the first time we go out together for a drink or something but i'm going to leave this up to her timescale, i dont want to rush her into something she might feel uncomfortable doing. Although these days i dont expect any negative comments after all this is 2011 not 2004 lol.
She knows about my website, as does my mum so i wonder if they found this blog yet (hello mum, hello sis if you are reading this!)

Also check out my latest YouTube video here, It is a little video showing the effects of my Botox over 30days. (also showing the Tanning effect of 1 week of intense Chinese, Middle Eastern and Spanish sunshine on my face lol)

  3. In my humble opinion, you earned the money, it's up to you how you spend it. Personally I couldn't spend that on my girlie self, but that's 'cause I have to weigh up my trans needs against those of my family - I have dependents, whereas you don't, so that for me is the single biggest difference.

Would I like to spend that on a bag (and it is a nice bag...)? Well, I'd sure love to earn enough to consider it!!!

  5. Thanks Maddy,

i guess when you look at it like that it puts it into context.
I have only ever bought 3 handbags in the last 4years. My Fendi Spybag which was £1,100, a cheap bag for nights out cost me no more than £50 and this LV Mahina. So altogether thats £2650ish, spread that out over the last 4 years and maybe the next 3 that equates to £380 per year and i know that is quite realistic for most girls to spend every year on bags.

Anonymous - im even more confused give me a clue....

  6. It is a fair amount of money, but really, it's your money, so you can do as you wish. :-)

  8. Im with Lynn on this. If you feel guilty at all, just donate your old stuff to a good charity. ;o)

  9. Yes, or donate all your old money to charity too.

The Lynn Needs a Posh Holiday Fund for example ;-)

  10. Sure, do whatever you like with your money, no worries. But all the same - spending that much on a handbag?!?! You must be bonkers! ;)

  11. So how many of these FB friends drive a big 4x4 which never goes off road instead of a nice economical family car? How many buy a mahoosive TV for just an average sized room at home? It's your money and your decision and if it make you feel great, then go for it!! :o)

Love the botox vid. Could start a YouTube trend of oscillating eyebrows :-)
